It’s not a “sin” to criticize every kind of fanaticism, either political, religious or other, but if the fanaticism is demonstrated by an institution such as the Catholic Church, which states to be against fanaticism, while professing to share messages of love and openness… why does it act such as the Inquisition is still in charge (we would remind one here that it was officially terminated in 1820)?
I’ll make a premise: by culture, I am a Christian, but when reading some posts written by ecclesiastical authorities filled with the same fanaticism they state to fight against, I can only notice their pettiness and, above all, an incredible superficiality and ignorance concerning what they criticize and condemn as “dangerous” or “demonic”.
The post to which I refer is the one, in which Father John Finney reviews a book written by another priest, Max Scully. In this book, Father Scully analyzes the phenomenon of Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation, and other Eastern disciplines, as a possible danger for a faithful Christian.
The thesis reported in this book (and in the post) is that these disciplines produce particular states of consciousness that could be a real danger for a real Catholic because it would induce him to “think” to be able to unify himself with God. The second “interesting” statement is related to the vital energy – the famous Chi, Ki, Prana…which, according to the above mentioned Fathers, is something “diabolic” because being able to manage this energy gives powers that humans must not have, and even in this case, could bring the human to “think” to be able to connect and unify with the Divine.
Namely, a total ban to even think of unifying with our own divine essence, a total ban even to have a hope for the existence of something better than the sufferings which every kind of people throughout the world experience every day.
In brief, the message seems to be the following: you are a human, and as such, you are a sinner – scum in the eyes of God, so don’t even think to make contact with him. Indeed, the Pontifex (the Pope) is the mean between men and God – and you musn’t have any power because you are a nobody and as such, you remain till the end of your life.
“Sincerely”, a message filled with “love” and “compassion” towards human beings. My congratulations!
I’ll stop here with writing. The above mentioned post (click the link) speaks for itself.
Bring yourselves to your own conclusions.
With Love,
Andrea
Fear keeps the sheep under control…
Fear of the Unknown which refuse to be “Seen” by the sheep…
thus, the sheep feel a need for protection and salvation due to the Fear which they do want want to face…yet…
by stepping into their vulernabilities of what they do not understand, they could see something beautiful…
the sheep herder likes this because it gives him a Power…
the “Church” is the sheep herder and I refuse to be a sheep…
Dogma in general is about keeping the masses in Fear…
be it most Religions, Governments or any fanatical Belief System…
Power based in Fear inflicted will keep the weak under control by Them…
sad this is…
it does not need to be this Way…
no Human Belief System has the Entire answer and the Ones who write the Dogma know this…
so they just keep hammering away at the sheep…”Keeping” them under control.
Yoga…
Meditation…
all methods of finding Love within Our Beings…
is a Path to Peace…and Strength.
